Saat yang ditunggu-tunggu para moviegoers di seluruh dunia dan tentunya insan perfilman Hollywood akhirnya tiba juga dengan diumumkannya daftar nominasi penghargaan perfilman paling bergengsi 87th Academy Awards. Untuk pertama kalinya, seluruh nama nominasi diumumkan kepada publik dalam dua sesi di Samuel Goldwyn Theater di Beverly Hills pada hari Kamis, 15 Januari waktu setempat.
Ada delapan film yang masuk nominasi Best Picture tahun ini. Birdman dan the Grand Budapest Hotel merajai daftar ini dengan sembilan nominasi, sedangkan film berlatar sejarah The Imitation Game menyusul dengan delapan nominasi.
Ada beberapa hal menarik yang Cosmo rangkum dari daftar ini. Meryl Streep lagi-lagi mendapat nominasi sehingga menjadi bintang film yang paling sering masuk nominasi Oscar, yaitu sebanyak 19 kali! Prestasi tersendiri juga dicatat oleh aktor Bradley Cooper yang tiga tahun berturut-turut masuk nominasi. Tahun 2013 ia menang Best Actor lewat film Silver Linings Playbook, tahun 2014 dinominasikan sebagai Best Supporting Actor lewat aktingnya di American Hustle, dan tahun ini lagi-lagi masuk kategori yang sama dalam film American Snipper. Dan yang tak kalah bangga tentunya adalah aktor Edward Norton, karena dua film yang dibintanginya, Birdman dan the Grand Budapest Hotel, mendapat nominasi terbanyak.
Pengumuman pemenang Piala Oscar nantinya akan diadakan pada tanggal 22 Februari 2015 di Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles dengan host Neil Patrick Harris.
